Yoni Mudra

Women, it’s time to reclaim our yonis! Yoni translates to womb or source and also refers to the female reproductive system. Yoni Mudra is a specific hand gesture that helps attune you to the feminine spirit, to your intuitive knowing and cyclical life. During your monthly cycle, Yoni Mudra can help relieve symptoms of PMS and encourage fertility.

This is a very grounding mudra as it engages with apana vayu, the downward force of energy within the body that nourishes the pelvis and reproductive systems. It balances the second chakra located just below the navel, svadhisthana, which relates to the qualities of fluidity and self-nourishment.

Next time you sit in meditation or hold a grounding yoga pose, try Yoni Mudra and feel that elevation and reclamation of the feminine energy!

To perform Yoni Mudra, first interlace your fingers inward.

Bring the tips of your index fingers together.

Then bring the thumbs together. Yoni time!

If interlacing the fingers is challenging for any reason, there are a few variations you can perform.

Simply bring the thumbs and index fingers together to form an diamond shape.

Or rest the inward fingers together at the knuckles instead of interlacing them.

To use Yoni Mudra in meditation, rest your hands below your navel and point the index fingers forward. Send your breath and awareness down to the region of the pelvis and the womb. This is great for any time you need some intuition or grounding in your life.
